In accordance with Plan No. 333/KH-BCĐ dated December 27, 2023, on building the movement for National Security Protection in 2024 by Steering Committee 799, Maritime College No.1 has developed Plan No. 733/KH-CĐHHI, dated August 27, 2024, on organizing a conference to propagandize the Cybersecurity Law in the new situation and the movement of all people to protect national security to staff, officials, employees, and students of MC1.
Under the direction, consensus, and approval of leaders of Department of Economic Security, the Department of Cybersecurity and High-tech crime prevention, and the Hai Phong City Police Department.
On September 17, 2024, Maritime College No.1, in collaboration with the Hai Phong City Police Department, organized a conference to raise awareness about the Cybersecurity Law in the new situation and the movement of all people to protect national security.
Attending the conference, on the side of the City Police Department, there were Mr. Nguyen Dang Trung - Deputy Head of Department of Cybersecurity and High-tech crime prevention, along with officers from the Department of Economic Security in charge of the school, officers from the Department of Cybersecurity and High-tech crime prevention, and officers from the City Police Advisory Department. On behalf of MC1, there were Mr. Lương Quang Trung – Vice Rector, along with leaders and officials from school’s units, and nearly 2,000 students attending online in classrooms.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Dang Trung - Deputy Head of Department of Cybersecurity and High-tech crime prevention, disseminated basic knowledge about the Cybersecurity Law, the current state of cybersecurity, and high-tech crime in recent times. He also covered common violations in the online environment and the forms of handling by competent State authorities. Additionally, he guided officials, employees, and students on identifying fraudulent activities in cyberspace and the dangers from the online environment, such as the risk of sexual abuse, cyberbullying, defamation, and humiliation online; the risk of privacy invasion, unauthorized use of personal information for malicious purposes; negative trends and harmful, illegal information. Through this, he provided guidance on cultural behavior rules and preventive skills in cyberspace to protect oneself and others.

In the context of rapid information technology development, cybersecurity is one of the top concerns for individuals, organizations, and nations. From online scams to large-scale cyberattacks, decisive measures are required for prevention and response.
Through the propaganda conference, the reporter aimed to raise awareness and responsibility among citizens in ensuring political security and social order in schools and localities. Especially in today’s society, where a large number of students use the internet, they need to know how to properly and effectively utilize social media, turning it into a useful tool for expanding knowledge. At the same time, they should be vigilant against hostile forces in cyberspace, prevent illegal activities, and build a healthy online environment.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Luong Quang Trung, on behalf of the school’s leadership, assigned specific tasks to all officials, employees, and students to seriously implement the provisions of the Cybersecurity Law. He emphasized maintaining a high level of vigilance, recognizing harmful, fraudulent information, and avoiding being drawn into reactionary organizations. He also encouraged spreading the content of the conference to family and friends and regularly following cybersecurity information on the fanpage “Hai Phong Peaceful Cyberspace” of the City Police Department through the QR code.
Additionally, the school’s units must always have preventive measures to protect the school’s data.
