In response to the appeal of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Maritime Administration, and the Trade Union of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, a fundraising campaign has been launched to support people affected by Typhoon No. 3 and its aftermath.
On September 13th, 2024, Maritime College No.1 launched a donation campaign to support people affected by Typhoon No. 3 and its aftermath. Attending the launch were Dr. Luu Viet Hung – Party Secretary, Rector of the school; Ms. Vu Thi Hai Van – Chairwoman of the school council, Chairwoman of the school union; representatives of the Board of Rectors; the Executive Committee of the school union; leaders of school’s units, and staff, lecturers, workers; and student representatives.

At the launch event, Dr. Lưu Việt Hùng - Party Secretary, Rector of the school, stated that Typhoon No. 3 caused damage to many families of staff, workers, and students of the school in particular, and caused severe damage to people and property in many localities in northern Vietnam in general. In recent days, people across the country have been focusing on those affected by floods and landslides, taking practical actions to support the people and localities in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon No. 3. Responding to the appeal of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, the Vietnam Maritime Administration, and the Trade Union of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Board of Rectors, and the Executive Committee of the school’s Trade Union, Dr. Luu Viet Hung called on all officials, lecturers, workers, and students to promote the spirit of “mutual affection and love,” “the leaves protect the tattered ones,” to promote the spirit of great national unity and social consciousness to join hands in sharing, actively contributing to support the officials, workers, students of the school and people affected by the typhoon, to quickly overcome and stabilize their lives.

At the event, Dr. Luu Viet Hung, on behalf of the Party Committee, the Board of Rectors, and the Executive Committee of the school’s Trade Union, presented a support gift worth 5 million VND to the family of lecturer Tran Manh Thang – lecturer of Faculty of Electronic and Electrical Engineering whose family suffered from severe damage caused by Typhoon No. 3.

At the end of the launch event, all (100%) of the school’s officials, lecturers and workers participated by donating at least one day’s salary, totaling nearly 100 million VND. The total donations were publicly disclosed, transferred to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, and used to support people in areas affected by Typhoon No. 3 in accordance with regulations.
